New! 1997 Starter NHL Jersey New York Rangers Wayne Gretzky Sz. M Liberty Vintage

This authentic Atarter jersey features the iconic New York Rangers “Lady Liberty” alternate jersey design & Hockey Hall of Fame Center Wayne Gretzky. “The Great One” is widely considered not only the best hockey player of all time, but also one of the most iconic athletes in major sports history. Wayne earned four consecutive Stanley Cups as a member of the Edmonton Oilers & currently holds or shares 55 NHL records.

This original circa-1997 jersey was manufactured by Starter. Uniquely, this jersey features Wayne’s on-ice-custom “double tag,” with embroidered Starter logos on each side of the back bottom hem. Wayne used to tuck in the right side of his jersey, a habit he developed as a child playing in large jerseys on teams full of older kids. In the NHL, this jersey tuck blocked the factory-standard right-side manufacturer’s logo. Wanting their logo visible on the jersey of the most famous hockey player on Earth, Starter added a 2nd logo on the left hem so it would still be visible while Wayne played.

All the logos feature high-quality embroidery & silver dazzle thread. The Gretzky #99 kit is factory original & not an aftermarket add-on, confirmed by the “NHLPA” collar tag.
