This authentic circa-1998 Starter jersey features New York Rangers forward Wayne Gretzky. “The Great One” is widely considered not only the greatest hockey player in history, but one of the great athletes in Major American Sports History.
This authentic team-issued jersey features fully-stitched dual-layered numbers & letters, along with several key alterations found only on Gretzky game jerseys:
1. The hanging size tag has been removed (size 56)
2. An extra patch reading “GRETZKY” has been sewn in beneath the main collar tag
3. The Starter logo & NHL shield logo have been “double tagged” onto both sides of the back hem
4. An added piece of Velcro is present on the right interior hip, matching Wayne’s on-ice alteration to help keep his jersey tucked in.
This authentic team-issued jersey features the classic “Made in Berlin, WI USA” interior hem tag, which is found in jerseys made at the Ripon Factory. Before the league shifted to the SP factory in Canada, the Rangers Starter-branded jerseys were made in the USA.
